1920s Flower Cloche Hat Bijou

This gorgeous antique confection of a hat looks as if it stepped out of The Great Gatsby, and worn by Daisy herself! Or perhaps a later episode of Downton Abbey. Genuine 1920’s, circa 1925….Big brim of pale lavender or pink/lilac hued, narrow horsehair braid, in that wonderful oval “Flapper droop” shape that is very sultry. The deep cloche crown is thickly embellished with a of dazzling array of millinery flowers of lush silk velvet and satin, in various shades of pinks, purples, champagne and more……Layered atop each other to create a carpet of florals! Fully lined in beige satin, with the millinery name woven into the tip of the lining…”Bijou”, with a pert lady designed into the lining too…..The crown is trimmed on the left side with a “band” of overlapping deep pinkish colored leaves….
I just can’t say more, as the photos will show you the astounding beauty of this antique 1920’s chapeau….
Perfect to wear with all of your 1920’s Flapper era dresses….To a garden party, a dance, tea, luncheon, a hat fashion show, or historical event…Inner circumference is 23″ + so it is a true deep cloche….
CONDITION: Very Good…Overall clean and fresh with no soiling, no odors or worn areas…Flowers are intact, beautiful with none missing and all are firmly sewn in place….The pink leaves “band” around the side crown have light wear, show age…the rest of flowers do not and are lovely, with only very slight signs of age to a few blossoms……..The hat overall shows some mild age, a but is well preserved and is ready to wear or display…The lining is lovely, no soiling or splits, no tears or holes….the pale lilac lavender hued braid is supple with no dryness….the hat is not discolored , and the braid is not torn or spotted….
