Vintage 1950s Schiaparelli WILD Feather Hat
Dramatic is a word over used these days, but this daring vintage hat fits that term, so I will go ahead and call it…… high drama! Label is SCHIAPARELLI, PARIS. Lush black fur-felt is velvety buttery soft, with an elliptical shaped brim that curls up on 1 side, and a shallow Juliet crown. Wild spikes of curling burnt ostrich flues encircle the entire edge of the brim, creating a halo of filmy allure for your profile. Daring, sultry and oh SO fashionable!
Vintage is 1953 to 1954. Signature ivory satin label with Shocking Pink lettering, and there is a small second label sewn in that reads 22 1/2. The hat fits the head like a half-skull cap, meant to sit on the back of the head. I like it tilted to the side to create even more drama, as shown. the edge of the brim is sewn with a fine black velvet cording, for a lovely couture millinery touch. This hat is extremely well made, finest fur felt, beautiful ostrich feathers flues, and a style that will get you noticed.
Condition is very good. Super clean and fresh. Felt is fresh and buttery soft, no wear, no moth bites, or soiling or fading, excellent. Feather flues are lovely, no breaks or shedding. Interior of the hat is very clean.
