Sophisticated elegance and timeless style define this beautiful, vintage 1950’s French chapeau by Haute Couture fashion designer and legendary milliner Elsa Schiaparelli. Elsa was surely paying homage to the 1920’s Flapper cloches when she designed this special hat. The deep cloche is made of finest quality, luxurious fur felt with a lush velvety brushed nap, and is embellished with a stunning slipper satin “floppy bow” that is softly folded and ruched. Signature ivory satin label reads “Schiaparelli, Paris”, and a size “22” tag. Vintage is 1950s and this is her earlier 1950’s label. The felt body is stamped “Caravelle, made in France”. The hat is a thick felt and is soft and supple in the hand, and the dense, silky satin is of a good weight and fine weave.
