Gold Metallic French Veiling, 1930s
STUNNING and so scrumptious! Genuine antique French Hat Veiling or millinery veiling, in the rarest of all colors…..GOLD METALLIC GILT!
Dating from the 1930’s, this amazing hat netting has an unusually nice weight to it from the gold gilt “dipped” silk strands, yet still has a wonderful suppleness and drape. It has great body but is not stiff ..it folds, wraps, and drapes beautifully. I have never felt anything like it! The silk French veiling was “dipped” in gilt of some sort (no doubt the Paris maker’s well guarded secret formula), and each strand is liberally covered in lustrous gold with a burnished hue that is not bright or vivid, very rich looking. Wide gauge net is actually quite sturdy and strong, yet delicate in its look. We have been hoarding this for years, and have finally decided to sell off a tiny bit. We are offering 1 yard here, which will be cut from the original bolt after purchase. Width is 15″ laid flat, and it gently stretches to about 17″.
Can you imagine the hat you can make with this? OOH LA LA!
CONDITION: EXCELLENT. I rarely use that term, but it really is. Fresh, supple, clean, no tears or snags, no discoloration or color loss, no flaking, no stains or odors. Weighty, supple, strong with no dryness. A RARE GEM for your millinery and hat making collection.
Price: $148.00
