1920s Lace Straw Wedding Cloche
A Beautiful, antique 1920’s, lace straw cloche hat, with a wonderful big brim. This highly sought after style is so indicative of the 1920’s.
The hat was worn for summer wedding in 1925, and lovingly stored for all these years. It would make a stunning Flapper bridal hat today, but of course, you could wear it now for any occasion!
The hat is constructed of a very wonderful lace straw braid that is so feminine and airy. Lightweight, the hat is fully lined in a pale ecru satin. Trimmed with a wide, French silk grosgrain millinery ribbon, 2 lovely silk knit lace inserts in front….and a bouquet of darling, star shaped, antique millinery flowers made of starched linen. The flowers are original to the hat, but can be removed, and they were stitched on lightly …and so we removed them so you can better see the hat. You could wear it plain, or add a vintage flower or ribbon work flowers in any color to match your dress or gown.
MEASURES 22″ around the inside circumference, and the brim is wider on the sides, measuring 4″ wide…front brim is 3 1/4″ wide and tapers to 1 3/4″ in the back. The crown is approx. 5″ high and nice and deep.
CONDITION: Very Good. Clean with no soiling or spots, no doors. Straw is supple and very flexible and is not dry or fragile, and has no splits, holes, snags or breaks. Ribbon shows some edge wear (please see the photos) and is a bit fragile on the ends. Flowers are aged in color, and look very vintage, but otherwise in good shape. Lining is clean with no soiling and is attached to the hat firmly. there is some splits in the lining, but nothing too terrible. Flowers will be easy to re-attach if you desire. The brim is a bit wavy in front but this is not a flaw, and can be easily remedied with a finger pressing or light steaming.
