Hattie Carnegie Silk Blue Rose Tilt Topper
Hattie Carnegie was at her best when she designed this stunning little chapeau. Using the principles of “less is more”, she created a hat that is beautiful and very much in style even today. Vintage is circa 1948 to 1954.
Pure silk satin…that wonderful “slipper satin” that we don’t see anymore…in a rich classic Navy blue. A large, hand made silk satin “Dior” style rose drops sweetly from a small oval base of ruched and puckered satin, with a single green silk velvet leaf (double sided velvet and sturdy) and blue satin wired stem. The rose is mounted on a satin covered circlet base which allows the hat to sit close to the head. Two faux tortoiseshell combs underneath ensure it will be secure on the head and at the requisite “saucy” angle.
This hat looks as if it came off today”s Paris runway…timeless in its style and certainly would be a striking addition to your wardrobe as well as being a collector’s item.
